 The  Literacy Lady PDX Story

Hi Literacy Lovers, I am Sarah, Literacy Lady PDX! I am thrilled to be able to connect with so many communities in the Portland Metro area. Sharing literacy has been my passion for as long as I can remember!

As a child, I loved reading (and I still do). Some of my favorites were the Ramona Quimby books, Anne of Green Gables, The Babysitters Club and the back of the cereal box at breakfast.

One of the biggest goals for my storytimes and classes is to bring people together and help children and their caregivers get back to socializing in a safe way. Watching your children grow makes my heart sing during each storytime and class. I work hard to collaborate with local businesses and to get as many books into the hands of children and families as possible.

If you see me at event, come say hello! I will most likely have a sticker and high-five to give!

Contact me for birthday parties, classes and storytimes with the kiddos in your life. Meeting and connecting is my passion, it makes sharing literacy so much fun!

Masks are required at all storytime locations that require masks. Masks are required at all Literacy & Art classes for children 3 and up! If you aren't feeling well, we ask that you stay home and feel better, so we can get back to reading together soon!

"Building friendships, a love for literacy & community connections!"

I am so grateful to work with amazing parents, caregivers and the children in their lives. What an awesome and rewarding opportunity.

Thank you for trusting me to share bright, happy books and boogie to fun tunes with your kiddos!

"Sarah is so much fun! We love going to story time with her each week. My son really looks forward to it. She makes story time really fun and engaging for the kids. A true asset to the community!"

-Shelby O-

"Literacy Lady PDX is so wonderful! My little one and I love her story times that she does around Portland and I love that she gives some of the caregivers a safe environment to socialize with our babes as well. She is fun, patient, organized, and kind! I love to take my guy to events that she hosts and runs because not only does she make literacy fun, but she makes every child feel welcome and special! We recently started her Literacy and Art class for 12-24 month olds and it’s a blast! Highly recommend getting your toddler to an event or class of hers soon!"

-Hailey B-

"Literacy Lady PDX is a business I love to support. Sarah’s events are a mix of stories and love of literacy, as well as vital mom/kid social time and friendship. We are grateful for the Usborne Books & More books she has introduced to us, finding so much information, education, and some of our most favorite stories. Attending Sarah’s events and buying her books and other products ensures that her vision and passion for supporting her community and children in need continues and thrives. I love that!"

It is known that I LOVE all things Michelle Nelson-Schmidt. Miss Michelle is the creator of the Whatif Monster, Cordelia and many others. Many of her books are available in my virtual bookshop, but some have been self published and only available through her website.

Because of this, I have decided to share a link to grab book from Michelle's website, for the times that I highlight her books that aren't available on my own site.

Santa Letter & Book

Red and White Cute Circle Christmas Santa Laptop Sticker.png

Find the link below to sign up for your Santa Letter and Book. Please fill out a seperate form for each child, to help me keep everything organized! :) I will be shipping these at the end of November and will have packages for each child.

In the section that asks about your child's year, please be specific. I will be adding in fun pieces of information about your child. The letter will be typed up with Santa's signature at the end.

The way that it will work is I will send two books and letter together. The books will be unwrapped and intended to be a book for reading on Christmas Eve. In the past, caregivers have opened the package and put the letter aside. I will give some ideas as the holiday approaches.

Santa letters will be $10 each (ala cart).

I am happy to have this letter come from anyone, it doesn't have to be Santa. Just make sure to specify! :)

Thanks for submitting!
