Story

Hi Literacy Lovers, I am Sarah, Literacy Lady PDX! I am thrilled to be able to connect with so many communities in the Portland Metro area. Sharing literacy has been my passion for as long as I can remember!
As a child, I loved reading (and I still do). Some of my favorites were the Ramona Quimby books, Anne of Green Gables, The Babysitters Club and the back of the cereal box at breakfast.
One of the biggest goals for my storytimes and Bookworm Buddies Experiences is to bring people together, and help children and their caregivers make new connections. Watching your children grow makes my heart sing everytime we are together. I work hard to collaborate with local businesses and to get as many books into the hands of children and families as possible.
If you see me at an event, come say hello! I will most likely have a sticker and high-five to give!
Sarah
Literacy Lady PDX
If you aren't feeling well, we ask that you stay home and feel better (fever free for 24 hours), so we can get back to reading together soon!

Why Bookworm Buddies?
Born out of the idea that children need a space to be who they are, without judgement or expectations, the Bookworm Buddies Experience is focused on bringing children together to share a space to learn & grow.
Each time we gather we will begin by coming together in a circle to welcome our friends with a song. The Bookworm Buddies experience will include storytime, music and having fun with rhythm. Oh, and don't forget the bubbles. We will then have an activity/craft that goes with the theme of the class. There is always play involved!
Caregivers can expect to spend 45 minutes building community and connection with the child in their life. Caregivers have also been known to find other caregivers to connect with, total win!
Bookworm Buddies run for 10 week sessions. We will meet a few times for field trips throughout the session. Some of the places we have visited are: The Pumpkin Patch, PDX Dinorama, The Sellwood Fire Station and on nature walks in the park.
The main goal for Little Bookworm class is to nurture a love for reading and bring children and caregivers together as a community.
Class themes change with the season, so there is always something new to learn!

Storytime Starter Kit
Give the gift of storytime with the Literacy Lady PDX Storytime Starter Kit! This kit includes many of the materials used during storytime with Ms. Sarah. Choose between the Whatif Monster or Nibbles, stamp all day with the rainbow stamp and click your sticks! The bubbles are the same as the kind that is used in storytime at Hammer + Jacks and in the Literacy Lounge at Playforest.
The Fine Print
(For Classes)
Full payment is due upon receipt. If no payment is made, five days after invoice is received, your spot will be released. No refunds will be given, however class credit will be applied with no expiration date. A new supply fee will be due when new class is signed up for. Parents will stay with their child through class, unless otherwise noted in class description. One missed class is permitted for make up each session.
Inclimate weather policy
I will email the night before if the class will be in session, if there is inclimate weather on a day that class is held. I'm not a snow or ice driver, so most of the time, I will error on the side of caution. If anyone feels unsafe traveling (if I decide to have class, because weather near Playforest is safe to travel), I would prefer them to stay home, and we can get a make-up class scheduled for the future.
